iOS 8.3 issues with OTA

EM has received and verified reports that certain Apple devices, after updating to iOS 8.3, fail to connect with EM Beacons programmed with OTA FW.

Products affected:

• The problem is limited to beacons programmed with the OTA (Over the Air Parameter Programming). It does NOT apply to standard EMBC01, EMBC02, or EMBC03 beacons programmed with v2.80 or earlier FW. These beacons are advertise-only and are not affected.
• The problem applies only to iPhones. iPads are not affected.

The issue is a change in the connection sequence emitted by the iPhone in iOS 8.3. EM is working on a fix for customers working with OTA.

EM has also had reports of location services being selectively turned off as part of the 8.3 update. Some BLE apps require location services, and consequently stop working after the update. Users should check location services for the app and re-enable services as needed.
